As RIM just released the Blackberry App World v1.1 and with this release allows French people to use it I decided to get it up and running on my BB Bold.
I have to say that it was not easy ! (Maybe it's me, maybe it's because my BB is in French, I don't know)
The first thing I've tried is to go the the RIM Website (http://www.blackberry.com) and navigate to the AppWorld section.
From this page I could send an email to my device with the download link. That's what I've done.
The problem was that when connecting to the link provided in the email the portal was saying that my device does not meet the requirements for App World (sic)
I've then tried to install it through my computer. To do so I updated the BB USB drivers to 5.0 and tried to run through the assistant.
All went fine until the uploader failed with an error stating "Unable to load File".
I then decided to google with my error messages and found that I was not the only one facing that kind of issues.
I was about to forget my idea of installing App World and found another link to install App World OTA.
I decided to give it a try and YES it worked !
The easiest way to reproduce my steps is the following :
- On Your BlackBerry Device, Open the Browser
- Navigate to : http://www.blackberry.com/appworld/download

- Navigate to the Download Link at the bottom of the page

- Download and install the Application
Once the installation is completed you then have access to the App World Icon

I've not used it for a while but the interface was neat and the application really fluid.
At Startup a set of 12 Applications (the featured one) is presented and you can scroll between them using the trackball.

From the toolbar located at the bottom of the screen you can get a list with Apps listed by Categories, Get Best Free Apps and Best Paying Apps. you can also do searches and define "Your App World".

Here is a screen (In French) of the Categories List.

To be able to buy Applications You'll need a Paypal Account.
Now it's up yo You to give it a try ;)
