CitrixTools.Net Story - Part 1

CitrixTools.Net has celebrated (silently) its first birthday on June 2009.
After one year online I wanted to use this new "Blog" area to write something about this website creation and its first online year.
Behind the site, there are some tools I've developped, so we can say the story began with tools.
I'm working with Citrix technologies since 2001 and as all of You I've started writing my own scripts / reg files to ease my deployments.
Actually I've never been a developper (no really !) and even if I've had mandatory code basics lessons during my IT Architect degree it was not my main focus (although I was not that bad at coding ;).
In 2006, I've been working on my free time to upgrade my EasyFit concept to the next level, actually from a set of batch (.cmd) files to .vbs scripts.
With this new release, I've really felt a need to go further and work with MFCOM.
To do so, A GUI would have been a must. That's where I decided to go to .Net.
My first projects were Sessions Cleaner and XenApp Configurator.
Sessions Cleaner was the premisce of XenApp Sessions Cleaner and XenApp Configurator is still there, part of the EasyFit Framework.
As my scripts and tools were not really accepted by my former collegues (not all of them but the majority, arguing that they prefer install and configure things manually), I've not focused on enhancing them or coding new tools but instead I've started to code only when needed.
Sessions Monitor, UPD Tuner, Specific Launcher are good examples, as well as Fast Publishing.
For these tools, all started with a customer need, fitted by a .vbs script or a .Net application when a GUI was mandatory.
Only some customers and my former collegues were aware of these tools, along with a friend that had a blog I was publishing articles on.
This friend and a former collegue (that became a friend) told me that the few tools I had coded were cool and that it'd be a great idea to share them with the Community.
As I really liked the idea, I bought a domain Name, selected a CMS (DotNetNuke) and started to build the site.
Two monthes Later, CitrixTools.Net was born.
To Be Continued ...

Pierre First thing, Congratulations on one year of CitrixTools.net. The site is great and your tools are top notch and a real asset to the community. I make sure that my engineers carry your tools on their portable hard drives for their daily work. Hopefully some day soon we actually get to meet. Keep up the great work dude!!! It's awesome...Cheers Michael

I'm really happy for u. You made a really good job. U change the way that french can be viewed in other country ;).
So if I have to define Pierre, I could say that guy is very very funny and strong. He's like a diamond for us in Citrix community ;) ;)
Sincerely, I hope I could work with u for long time.

Re: CitrixTools.Net Story - Part 1
Congratulations on the site's first anniversary.
The content is impressive after only one year (even if you had a bunch of stuff in the garage way before you started publishing) ! I hope to see more & more people and traction on your site from now on ... Long live citrixtools.net !
Side note to Patrice : I fully agree, Nordics have login, pqr, vrc and so on, US have Brian Madden and many other influencers and the list goes on, I am no patriot or anything but frogs should be proud of Pierre ;-)
