Description
The Citrix Online Plug-in v11.0 is the last version to use Program Neighborhood and it no longer installs Program Neighborhood by default. Version 11.1 no longer includes Program Neighborhood at all. While Program Neighborhood will still be supported in both of those versions, customers are encouraged to begin planning to adopt a newer client version or migrate to Citrix Receiver. With the v11.2 online plug-in release, Program Neighborhood will no longer be supported.
Citrix Quick Launch has been written to offer some features of Program Neighborhood for users of the recent Citrix Online Plug-in releases. While it will also work with older releases, its purpose is to be used in conjunction with Citrix Online Plug-in version 11.0 and later.
This tool offers a simplified and easy to user interface to connect to any XenApp server or its published applications over the ICA protocol.

Prerequisites
• Version 8.0 or later of the Presentation Server Client/XenApp Plugin for 32-bit Windows is required on the system where the tool is launched.
• For application enumeration, make sure the file neHttpN.dll (when using TCP/IP+HTTP as browsing protocol) or the file neTCPn.dll (when using TCP/IP as browsing protocol) are present in the Presentation Server Client/XenApp Plugin folder
• The msstdfmt.dll file must be registered on the system.
Installing Citrix Quick Launch 1.1
1. Extract the contents of the zip file to a folder.
2. If msstdfmt.dll is not already present on the computer, register them as follows:
regsvr32 "
\msstdfmt.dll"
If this file is not registered properly, you receive the following error message:
"Component ‘msstdfmt.dll' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
If the Citrix Online Plug-in is not installed on the computer, you will receive the following error message:
"Component ‘Wfica.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
Note: This tool was tested on Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 on Windows 2003, XenApp 4.5 on Windows 2003, XenApp 5.0 for Windows 2003, XenApp 5.0 for Windows 2008 (all 32-bit editions), Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows Seven.
How To Use Citrix Quick Launch 1.1
When running the Citrix Quick Launch tool, you can specify the server name or IP address.
The following actions are then possible :
1. click “Connect…” to initiate an ICA session to this server,
2. click “Write ICA File” to create an ICA file for later use
3. click “Options >>” to access additional features

When the “Options >>” button is clicked, the tool offers additional features to configure.
Note: when running on a machine with a Citrix Online Plug-in version 11.2 or later, UDP Browsing has been deprecated from this release therefore the only browsing protocol available if TCP/IP over HTTP. The XML Service port needs to be specified.

If the machine has an older version of the Citrix Online Plug-in, the expanded view will therefore offer the choice between TCP/IP (UDP Browsing) and TCP/IP+HTTP (XML Browsing) as shown below :

The tool offers the possibility to connect directly to the server’s desktop (default setting when the Options are not displayed) or a published application in the farm.
To browse the published applications, the correct browsing mechanism should be selected (refer to the note above for Citrix Online Plug-in version 11.2 and later).
In the case of XML Browsing, make sure the XML Service port is correct.

When a published application is selected, the engine will use seamless mode by default while the ICA session will be started in a fixed size window if connecting to a server’s desktop.
Encryption levels, compression and bitmap caching can be configured for the ICA session or the ICA file creation.
The credentials (including password) will be forwarded to the ICA session, for a smoother logon experience.
When closing the tool, if ICA sessions launched by it are still opened, the below message will appear, prompting for a confirmation to close the tool.

If the user clicks the ‘Yes’ button, all the ICA sessions opened via the tool will be logged off.
When the tool is closed (with active ICA sessions or not), the server name, username and domain are saved in the registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Citrix\CitrixQuickLaunch
If an error occurs, it is possible to run DebugView (from www.sysinternals.com) beside Citrix Quick Launch to capture traces.
